Pregnancy / antenatal yoga class in Brighton: starting January 19 2012, Thursdays 7.30pm-8.30pm
Anahata Clinic, 119-120 Edward Street, Brighton BN2 0JL
Supporting you, body & soul, on your journey into parenthood.
In each class, we will explore body and breath work, meditation and deep relaxation techniques to help:
• connect with yourself & your baby
• increase energy
• release tension & anxiety
• relieve common side effects
(backache, heartburn, swollen ankles, insomnia)
• prepare for labour & birth
In classes, through working with the body, we will explore the deeper philosophy that underpins yoga practice. We can develop self awareness, acceptance and trust, helping to discover a centred space, where we feel able to respond to whatever challenges pregnancy and parenthood throw at us.
The yogic principles of ahimsa (non-violence) and aparigraha (non-grasping) are just two examples of how yoga brings us to a place where we accept ourselves and our circumstances; the natural flow of things, letting go of expectations and projections. This brings us contentment and presence in the moment.
By moving towards understanding our bodies on a physical level, our emotional patterns of reaction are revealed and we can effect real transformation.
I have practiced yoga throughout my three pregnancies and taught through two, so, although no two pregnancies, women or births are alike, I know from experience how beneficial yoga can be.
I would advise that, unless you already practice yoga, you start pregnancy yoga in your second trimester.
Call me, Leonie, on 0780 907 5602, or fill in the contact form below if you need more information or if you would like to book a class.
I also teach one-to-ones and private groups, so if you have particular health issues or time constraints, get in touch and we can work out a personal program that suits your needs.

Hi leonie
I’m 29 weeks at the moment and wanted to start pregancncy yoga in January – do you have any space on the Tuesday class??
Thanks
Lucy
Hi Lucy,
Thanks for getting in contact. Yes, you would be most welcome to start in January. The first class back is on Tuesday 10 January. If you happen to have a birthing ball and it’s not tricky to do so, do bring it along to class as there’s lots of stuff I can show you for third trimester and birth that you can use the ball for in yoga. Don’t worry if not though.
Do let me know before hand if you have any particular health issues that I might be able to help you with in class. You’re welcome to call me on 0780 907 5602.
Warmest wishes for te festive season,
Leonie
