Thai Herbal Compresses

As part of therapeutic Thai massage sessions, I use steamed herbal compresses to prepare your body for deeper, more subtle work, stretches and compressions.

The compresses contain:

Anti-inflammatory: Turmeric contains the bioactive curcumin, which has strong anti-inflammatory properties. When massaged with herbal compresses, the curcumin can help reduce muscle and joint inflammation and relieve pain. Zingiber cassumunar (Thai Phlai) contains bioactive compounds which can help reduce inflammation, muscle and joint pain.

Muscle relaxation: The heat allows the ingredients to penetrate the skin and help loosen and relax tight muscles. Camphor has cooling, analgesic and soothing properties which can have a positive effect on muscles.

Stress relief: The eucalyptus scent can have a calming effect and contribute to relaxation and promote general well-being

Skin care: Turmeric, galanga and camphor, also have potential benefits for skin health. Lemongrass and Kaffir lime leaves are used to soothe skin irritations and calm the skin.

Energy and circulation: Massaging with herbal compresses can promote circulation and have a stimulating effect on the body, increasing energy and vitality. Tamarind leaves are said to have both soothing and revitalising properties.
