Thai Yoga Massage is a traditional massage originating from Thailand, working on the body using hands, feet, elbows, knees to apply pressure to energy lines and pressure points, releasing blocked energy and tension, restoring harmony and balance.
You remain fully clothed and I will gently open and stretch out the body in applied Hatha Yoga positions. Essentially, it is the most wonderful yoga class ever, where you simply receive the stretches on a comfortable TYM futon. It is a very meditative, synchronising with your breath, so it works deeply on the nervous system to promote calm and wellbeing.
The treatment improves flexibility, relaxes, restores and energises. Traditionally a treatment lasts two hours so that you can deeply relax into it, but one hour and 90-minute sessions are also available.
Therapeutic benefits of Thai Yoga Massage
TYM can be applied to help with issues such as headaches, knee pain, back, shoulder and neck pain, premenstrual tension and others. It is also very effective for conditions such as Multiple Sclerosis, or after a stroke, where it can help reconnect you to your body and a felt sense of your body.
TYM can be done on anyone, of any age and flexibility, as it is entirely adapted to suit your needs; so if you have limited movement, we would concentrate more on palming and thumbing energy lines to improve balance and vitality. Those with more movement can benefit from assisted stretches – either allows for a deepening sense of connection and ease within the body.
TYM can be a wonderful introduction to or way to deepen your practise of yoga as it is safely guided, so can allow your body to move into positions that sometimes the mind can perceive as ‘unachievable’, revealing how we can release from our habits or ‘samskaras’. It is very deep and healing for body and mind.
